On a car policy, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) pays 80 percent of reasonable expenses for medically necessary services, up to $10,000. But for PIP purposes, a "motor vehicle" is defined as a self-propelled vehicle with four or more wheels under s. 627.732, Florida Statutes, so the PIP requirement is written for four-wheel vehicles, not motorcycles.
That matters because the crash that hurts a rider is exactly the crash where medical bills arrive first and fault gets argued later. On a car policy, PIP is there from the start. On a bike, the answer depends on what you bought.
Which is why medical payments coverage and uninsured motorist coverage on your own policy deserve a real look on a motorcycle quote here. They are the coverage doing the work.
